Client Case Studies
Wondering if it’s really worth hiring a clinical consultant for your business?
Check out these examples to learn I’ve helped my clients succeed in health tech and medical innovation.
Product Design Research: Cervu Health
Cervu Health is a scrappy, women’s health start-up building a novel pelvic floor tool for female cancer survivors. In 2023, they received a Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grant to develop and validate an alpha prototype of their hardware device.
In partnership with Cervu, I am serving as the Principal Investigator (PI) on their SBIR grant. As PI, I manage study recruitment, informed consent processes, participant interviewing, data collection and analysis, and all logistics of the study.
I am embedded within Cervu as their fractional Chief Clinical Officer. After grant completion, I will continue facilitating Cervu’s research and other initiatives to make the product market-ready.
Product Validation: Sword Health’s Bloom
From 2022-23, I served as lead beta tester in Sword Health’s new women’s health service, Bloom. I recruited, screened, and onboarded approximately 20 women to participate in initial testing of Bloom’s pelvic rehabilitation program.
Over about 4 months, I guided volunteers through their biofeedback-enabled pelvic floor training program. I gathered and analyzed participant data, collected feedback on the biofeedback device and Bloom’s paired app, and collaborated with Bloom’s engineers to address bugs and improve the user experience.
After this initial testing, Bloom launched to the public as the first vertical that Sword Health added to its suite of virtual rehabilitation tools.
Clinical Product Review: Peli Health
Peli Health is an international femtech startup focused on female pelvic health. Their platform provides educational content that teaches users about their pelvic floor, bladder and bowel health, sexual function, pregnancy and postpartum recovery, the menopause transition, and more.
As a consultant and advisor to Peli Health, I completed a comprehensive clinical review of the platform, assessing all content for accuracy and relevance and identifying areas for improvement.
By combining my clinical knowledge as a healthcare provider and my expertise as a medical content writer, I helped Peli create an evidence-based, clinically relevant, and patient-centered platform for all.
Medical Content Strategy & Writing: Mira
As a pioneer in at-home hormone testing for female reproductive health, Mira aims to help everyone with ovaries better understand their natural hormonal cycles. In addition to empowering those seeking pregnancy or struggling with subfertility, Mira’s product provides insights into the menopause transition.
I’ve collaborated with Mira on several projects to educate their users and position the company as a thought leader in women’s hormonal health. By my skills in medical literature review, plain language medical writing, and patient-facing app development, I created educational reports to help Mira users understand their test results.
In 2024, I worked with Mira’s team to develop a white paper on developing trends in the hormone monitoring market. This paper identified new potential markets for technology like Mira’s and highlighted novel clinical uses for the at-hormone monitors.
Health Tech Market Discovery: Lasa Health
Lasa Health is a femtech startup building clinician- and patient-facing tools for the detection and management of chronic pelvic pain conditions, including endometriosis.
In the summer of 2024, I served as Lasa Health’s Industry Mentor for their participation in the National Science Foundation’s Innovation Corps (I-Corps) program. This intensive, 10-week program helped the Lasa team connect with 100 stakeholders, including patients, healthcare providers, healthcare administrators, and more.
I helped Lasa’s team identify potential interviewees and synthesize their findings from these conversations. The group completed I-Corps with a clear view of their next steps for business and product development. Lasa Health has subsequently received funding from the highly competitive ARPA-H Sprint for Women’s Health.
Clinical Advising & Analysis: ladibug
The founders of ladibug have set out to create an online marketplace that women–and their healthcare providers–can trust. They’re building an e-commerce platform stocked with female health devices and products, all thoroughly vetted by a medical advisory board.
I’m proud to serve as a founding member of this board, providing the founders with practical insights drawn from my clinical practice experience and thorough review of the latest research in female health. Alongside my physician colleague, I’ve helped review ladibug’s product categories and vet the products they’ll feature on the site.
As a clinical consultant to ladibug, I help the team deliver accurate, fad-free educational content on pelvic and menstrual health, sexual wellbeing, and other high-impact topics targeting the female health consumer.
